Honey is life – Natural Handcrafted Soap Company

The Kattunayakan are tribal people who live deep in the forests of the Nilgiris ImageBiosphere Reserve in South India. They collect and sell wild honey. Today, settlers from the crowded plains and eviction from the forest reserve threaten both their land and their traditions. Mari Marcel Thekaekara accompanied a group of Kattunayakan on one of their forays into the jungle. -
Honey is a sweet treat for skin
Honey is also a humectant, so it helps retain moisture on the skin in much the same way as glycerin.
Cleopatra is said to have ruled Egypt with an iron fist. Apparently, it was also a smooth fist, since she was one of the more famous people in history to use honey for its skin-enhancing properties. In fact, Cleopatra’s legendary milk and honey baths are just one of many historical examples of people using honey to pamper their complexions. While Cleopatra didn’t know why honey softened her skin, new research suggests the queen of the Nile was definitely onto something.
Manufacturers have used honey in everything from hand lotions and moisturizers to bar soaps and bubble baths.
One reason they use honey is for its wholesome, all-natural image; more and more consumers are demanding cosmetics and personal care products made from natural ingredients. In the case of honey, however, image is just the beginning.
First, honey is a humectant, which means it attracts and retains moisture.
This makes honey a natural fit in a variety of moisturizing products including cleaners, creams, shampoos and conditioners. Honey also acts as an anti-irritant, making it suitable for sensitive skin and baby care products.
Honey’s prospects in skincare are looking even sweeter; research is currently underway to develop a process using honey to create alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). AHAs are an important ingredient in many skin creams and moisturizers because they help exfoliate the skin. Increased exfoliation, or renewal of the skin cells, can give skin a younger, more vibrant look.

How to Select a Facial – Soap to Buy
Not all facial soaps are created equal! Many people have been using the same type of soap for many years but because our skin changes with time, that brand of soap might not be right for us anymore.
We are going to look at choosing a soap to buy according to skin type.

For anyone with dry or sensitive skin or a skin condition such as psoriasis or eczema, goats milk soap is a great choice.
Goat milk contains lactic acid which is a natural Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA). AHAs are used in expensive Beauty Salon treatments such as skin peels which remove the top layers of skin to reveal younger looking skin beneath.
The Best Soap for Dry Skin
The surface of dry skin has flakes of skin on the surface which make the skin uneven and it therefore looks dull because it does not reflect light evenly.
Older people are more likely to have dry skin and long for a dewy complexion, younger looking skin that looks almost luminous because of the way the smooth surface reflects light.

Using an olive oil soap is a wonderful way to relieve dry skin and minimize fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, it helps to fade the dark patches of pigment called age spots and the appearance of scars, whether these are from injury or past acne blemishes.
Olive soap is great for removing makeup too and can be beneficial in skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, skin rashes and acne.
In addition, if your skin is sensitive, it is good to know that olive oil is hypoallergenic so you are unlikely to get reaction problems from using it.

About the Benefits of Orange Essential Oil in Soaps

Orange essential oil is an ingredient commonly found in natural soap products to provide distinctive qualities and aroma to an everyday cleaning agent.
Essential oils can be pleasant, but also toxic when used at certain concentrations; however, consumer products typically dilute the strength of the oil and test it for safety before marketing it. Many advertisers may claim certain advantages, though you should be aware of the facts before purchasing or using any soaps made with orange essential oil.

The Facts

All essential oils are highly concentrated from their sources, so you receive every drop of benefit the original source has to offer. Orange essential oil is carefully distilled from the orange part of the peel using fine oils as the carrier. When orange essential oil is combined with natural soap ingredients, you have access to a cleaning product offering a pleasant scent.
